Tender for overhaul of aircraft engines opened
PUTTING THE ENTIRE JAT AIRWAYS FLEET UP IN THE AIR
In the upcoming months, currently landed Jat Airways craft will restore their function and become part of Jat Airways fleet once again, thus allowing fulfillment of goals stipulated in the Plan for the business consolidation of the Company. Overhaul of four aircraft engines will allow putting additional craft up in the air. Public tender has been opened in Jat Airways building in New Belgrade. Estimated price of this project is couple million of euros.
"Completion of the fleet will allow more efficient traffic service of Serbian flag carrier" said Željko Krstić, president of Tender Committee and Jat Airways Executive Director, reminding that "in the first two months of this year, compared to the same period last year, number of passengers rose 2 per cent, regardless of the global crisis in air traffic and that this was achieved with only 9 craft of 15 existing."
Invitation to submit offers for overhaul of aircraft engines was sent to four prestigious companies specialized in aircraft maintenance as well as to the domestic Jat Tehnika. Until the closing date, four companies submitted their offers – Lufthansa Technik from Germany, Bedeck from Israel, Snecma from France and NEC from Norway. As it is necessary to complete the overhaul and put the remaining planes up in the air as soon as possible, the whole project will be divided into four segments - one for each engine, so the bidders submitted offers for each engine separately. |
