All Passengers and Crew Members Safe
During taxiing, as it was leaving the 06 runway following landing at the Istanbul airport on Sunday, October 4, 2009, Jat Airways airplane on the JU 420 Belgrade–Istanbul flight skidded off the runway.
The crew had applied all the required measures prescribed for such situations. All passengers, including two with limited mobility, safely disembarked from the aircraft by the portable access airplane stairs brought against the plane.
No one among the passengers or crew members was injured, and possible material damage is to be assessed based on expert analysis.
Operative services at Istanbul airport are in continual contact with the Jat office in this city.
Jat Airways will be sending a second aircraft to carry the passengers from Istanbul to Belgrade on the JU 421 flight.
Jat Airways has the required Safety Management System defining actions and procedures to be implemented after the event or technical accidents that also apply to this case.
Required measures will be undertaken in keeping with the defined procedures as approved by the civil aviation authorities in Serbia. |
