Jat airplanes landing again in Dubrovnik
After the 18 year long interruption, Jat aircraft landed again in Dubrovnik on July 2nd, 2009. By introducing this route, Jat enhances tourist offer and improves travel mobility toward the South Croatian coast.
For the time being, permission has been given only for two first flights, but Jat has the plan to operate on this route until the end of August. Planes ATR 72 with capacity of 66 seats will fly to Dubrovnik twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. Flight from Belgrade is scheduled for 7.50 hours on Mondays, while the return flight from Dubrovnik that same day at 9.50 hours. On Thursdays, departure from Belgrade is planed at 12.50 hours, while the arrival from Dubrovnik at 14.50 hours the same day. Duration of the flight is 70 minutes. Ticket price range is from 35 euros for one way ticket and from 69 euros for return ticket. Tickets including all taxes and fees are available at the price from 86 euros for one way ticket and 152 euros for return ticket.
After flight to Pula, which is operated for the second consecutive year now, Dubrovnik is the second destination of Jat's services towards Croatia.
Jat expressed its intention to establish the seasonal traffic with Dubrovnik on a meeting held with the representatives of Airport Dubrovnik on May 13th. On that occasion, Tourist Board of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik hotel managers expressed their readiness to welcome tourists from Serbia.
The first air connection between Belgrade and Dubrovnik was established in mid-1936, when Aeroput introduced Belgrade-Sarajevo-Dubrovnik route.
After the Second World War, the traffic was renewed in 1953 with Belgarde-Sarajevo-Dubrovnik-Hereg Novi route. Jat established international flights from Dubrovnik on June 2nd, 1956, while intercontinental flights on Dubrovnik-Toronto route were introduced in 1983.
The traffic on Belgrade-Dubrovnik route was interrupted on August 6th, 1991.
