Today, Jat Airways carried its one-millionth passenger in 2008.
Loznica-based psychologist Jelena Vasić, traveling with her family to Greece for summer holidays, became the millionth passenger as she checked in for the JU444 Belgrade-Thessaloniki flight.
On the occasion, Jat made a gift to Ms Vasić of a package tour for two persons from the Jat Air Lift program. Jat Airways Commercial Director Vladimir Ognjenović presented the award at Belgrade airport.
This year, Jat Airways carried one million passengers as many as 17 days earlier than last year and at the earliest date since 1991. Jat surpassed this figure for the first time in 2005, with the number of passengers recording a rise with each coming year.
Over the recent years, Jat has been recording a continual increase in the physical volume of traffic. This year's summer season beat all the previous ones. On some forty flights daily in July and August, Jat carried between 6,000 and 7,000 passengers, sometimes more. The average daily cabin load factor was between 70 and 80 percent. Flights were maintained with between 12 and 15 aircraft, fewer than in the previous years thus confirming the fleet's rational use at this time. All this is an indication that Jat is determined to overcome the negative legacy from the past, resolve all the current problems and evolve into a modern, flexible European company.
