Wedding in Jat Airways Aircraft

Data/Images/vencanjejat5_s.jpgBirgitta Berglund from Sweden and Predrag Marković from Serbia were married on Saturday, January 19 at an altitude of 10,000 in an aircraft on the Belgrade-Stockholm Jat Airways scheduled line.

A Belgrade's Stari Grad municipality registrar, Gordana Zorić, who originated the idea of collective weddings in Belgrade and wedding ceremonies taking place at unusual venues, officiated the ceremony onboard the Jat Boeing 737-300 piloted by Captain Milan Obrenović and co-pilot Goran Nižić.

So, the newly-weds with champagne, the Djurdjevdan song, wedding cake, applause and congratulations from the 117 passengers onboard the JU-374 flight said the fateful "I do" before the wedding's principal witnesses Lela Ristić of the Jat Media Center and Vesna Jovanović, stewardess/purser.

The forty-eight-year-old Birgitta heads the maternity ward at a Stockholm clinic and the thirty-six-year-old Predrag, better known as DJ Pele of Belgrade, met in the summer of 2006 on the Croatian island of Hvar. The wedding onboard the airplane was organized by the Jat Media Center at the wish of the bridegroom, who, as he says, is a great fan of the Boeing 737 aircraft.
