Jat Receives Its Second IOSA Certificate

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the second time awarded Jat Airways with an IOSA certificate thereby making the Serbian national carrier the first air company to pass both audits without any objections raised. This unique example in the world confirms that Jat has reached and is maintaining the highest, IATA-prescribed standards in flight safety and technical maintenance.

Jat Airways first became IOSA-registered in February 2005, as one of the first thirty members IATA, numbering some 260 air companies. The certificate received at the time is valid through February 25, 2007, and every IOSA-registered air company must submit to outsiders review every other year. Last week, Wake Qa Ltd. of London auditors, an organization IATA has accredited, carried out a new audit of Jat Airways.

The Serbian national air carrier has successfully passed a second IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) review without any discrepancies as to the 800 IATA-prescribed standards. The accredited auditors examined compliance with prescribed standards in eight areas: air company organization, flight operations, cabin staff, operations center, technical operations, ground operations, cargo division and flight safety.

Being IOSA-registered implies that JAT continues among the safest companies and well on its way to restoring its former position of one of Europe’s best air carriers. The goal of Jat Airways is not only to be an IOSA-registered company but to fully implement all international aviation regulations. Being IOSA-registered regarding the passengers of the national air company implies that Jat is safe at any given time.

The IOSA program is an internationally-recognized and accepted system of quality evaluation. All the companies desiring to remain or become IATA members must meet by 2007 all the standards this organization prescribes.
