Jat - Favorable Balance after Sixteen Years

For the first time in sixteen years, Jat Airways is not in the black, according to the results of the statement of the Serbian national air company nine months into this year. Jat recorded an overall income amounting to 12.4 billion dinars, a 23-percent increase compared to the same period last year. The business result stands at 69 billion dinars. As Jat had planned a minus of 144.3 million dinars, the achieved result represents an increase of 213.3 million dinars. The company expects this growth trend to continue through the end of the year and to create the conditions for paying excess profit tax.

In mid-October, Jat Airways carried its one millionth passenger, and all traffic indicators show an upturn compared to the same period of last year. Thus, in 2006, Jat recorded record results in passenger transportation on the regular Euro-Mediterranean lines, effecting a growth rate of over 17 percent against the previous year. The company expects to carry a total of 1.2 million passengers by the end of the year.

These business results fall short of those Jat desires to achieve in the coming period, but they show a tendency of continuing growth under a very difficult period for air companies.
