Beyond Reach

Although he is not near us, he is always somewhere around us - on television or computer screens, on the front pages of magazines, on billboards…

Over the past few years, Novak Đoković was considered to be a phenomenon. He is the first Serb in the Serbia’s history who has risen to the top of the world’s tennis elite. However, in the course of this year, Novak became almost unbeatable on the court.

In recent years, Novak was not around us as well. However, since 2011 he has moved away from us, his biggest fans, even more. This we do not say in negative, but in the positive sense. It would be an exaggeration to say that he has ‘reached the stars’, yet he is not so far from accomplishing that. Novak Đoković simply became Novak Đoković – the world’s best tennis player, just like he dreamed of when he was seven and promised a few years ago.

There were various speculations in the media over how he won seven tournaments in a row with 37 successive winnings since May 2011. Has he changed his nutrition, does he have some ‘guru’ taking care of his mental and physical condition now, or, in one word, is he the only person who stands behind his outrageous success? Finally, each one of us has its own opinion, and that is how it should be, because, besides his great success on the court, he has once more showed that he is an extraordinary player.

Still, we should never forget, especially the media, that he is just like each one of us, regardless of his great earnings, and someday he will probably wish to find his ‘quite nook’, just like other great players who had put their tennis racket aside did.
