Special Categories of Travelers
Unaccompanied children
Children may travel unaccompanied, without an adult, on all Jat Airways flights if they meet stipulated conditions.
Parents must notify the ticket agent at the time of ticket purchase that the purchased ticket is for an unaccompanied child. Parents must read the conditions and follow the given instructions.
According to Jat Airways rules, children may not travel unaccompanied if they are:
- under 5 years old (domestic and international flights).
- Children under 7 may not travel on long-distance flights.
For those children who do not meet the conditions for traveling alone, Jat Airways can provide an adult to supervise a child or children (STW/STD), a service which requires parents to purchase a one-way ticket for the adult caretaker.
The number of children who may travel unaccompanied on a given flight is limited, and approval must be received from Jat Airways for the entire trip.
Parents or parental custodians who send their child unaccompanied are required to obtain all necessary documents, to respect Jat Airways conditions, and fill out a form entitled "Declaration for an Unaccompanied Child".
For more detailed information, contact Jat Airways offices in Serbia, regional offices abroad, or certified agents.
Expectant Mothers
Expectant mothers shall not be regarded as incapacitated passengers.
Expectant mother should inform Jat Airways about her pregnancy while booking a flight. The Booking Department is responsible to record in the PNR pregnancies from 28th to 36th week as well as to inform pregnant woman with her obligation to have medical certificate. This information may be entered when buying tickets.
For uncomplicated single pregnancies, Jat Airways restricts travel beyond the end of the 36th week of pregnancy, and in case of multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets, etc.) beyond the end of the 32nd week.
Expectant mothers from their 28th to 36th week of pregnancies must have certified medical reports specifying the maturity of pregnancy and expected date of delivery. Such medical certificate must be issued in 28th week of pregnancy at least.
- Expectant mothers must have medical certificate during a flight and present it at the request of a crew member.
- Air travel is not recommended for women within the first seven (7) days after delivery.
- Air travel is not recommended for Healthy new – born babies, provided not prematurely born within the first seven (7) days after birth.
Adult passenger traveling with two infants
Adult passenger travelling with two infants is not permitted on Jat Airways flights. Jat Airways does not have baby baskets for babies less than two years, and because the passengers own baby baskets could not securely fasten, then, such possibility is excluded.
Travelling with two babies is only possible with the second escort over the 16 years, who is holding another baby.
Handicapped Persons
Jat Airways makes a special effort to accommodate handicapped persons on its flights.
Handicapped persons are those who declare themselves as such at the time of ticket purchase or ticket reservation, regardless of whether they make the declaration themselves or someone else does so in their name.
In order to ensure the highest level of safety possible, it is necessary that Jat Airways be informed in a timely manner that a handicapped passenger will be traveling on a particular flight.
Jat Airways must be informed if air travel can possibly lead to a deterioration or complication in the health of the passenger (passengers suffering from cardiovascular and pulmonary problems, passengers recently operated or those who require a reclining position, or passengers suffering from injuries such as broken bones, etc...).
Transport of Household Pets (PETC/AVIH)
The transport of animals – household pets – is allowed on all regular Jat Airways flights so long as the airline has been given prior notice.
The animal must be placed in an adequate animal carrier made from sufficiently strong material (plastic, fiberglass, wood, metal, etc...) with a non-porous bottom. The dimensions of the animal carrier must allow the animal to feel comfortable while being transported. It is the responsiblity of the animal's owner to obtain an appropriate animal carrier.
The animals owner is also required to obtain the necessary animal health card and to be aquatinted with and abide by all regulations concerning the transport of animals from the country of origin to the country of travel, as well as all transit countries.
Animals of small size and weight (puppies, kittens and birds) may be accepted for travel in the passenger cabin under the condition that the overall weight of the animal carrier and animal does not exceed 8 kg. The number of animals that may be transported in the passenger cabin is limited.
Pets (dogs and cats) whose weight with their animal carrier exceeds 8 kg will be placed in the heated and pressurised baggage compartment under the plane.
