Responsibilities of the Traveler and Respect for Regulations

Travelers are required to show a valid passport, obtain necessary visas and other documents required by destination or transit countries.

Jat Airways retains the right to reject travelers who do not follow regulations or whose documents are not in order.

In the event that a Jat Airways customer misses a flight due to passport, customs or other irregularities, Jat Airways bears no responsibility for damages incurred to the traveler.

Traveling in Business Class

Jat Airways has introduced a Business C-class for domestic and international flights.

With a view towards offering a higher level of service to business travelers in the air and on the ground, Jat Airways offers the following amenities:

  • Separate check-in counters at airports;
  • Priority boarding;
  • More comfortable cabin seating;
  • Higher quality beverages and meals;
  • Higher weight limit for check-in baggage;
  • Separate waiting rooms where conditions allow.

Special Categories of Travelers – General Conditions

  • Unaccompanied children

    Children may travel unaccompanied, without an adult, on all Jat Airways flights if they meet stipulated conditions.

    Parents must notify the ticket agent at the time of ticket purchase that the purchased ticket is for an unaccompanied child. Parents must read the conditions and follow the given instructions.

    According to Jat Airways rules, children may not travel unaccompanied if they are:

    • under 5 years old (domestic and international flights).
    • Children under 7 may not travel on long-distance flights.

    For those children who do not meet the conditions for traveling alone, Jat Airways can provide an adult to supervise a child or children (STW/STD), a service which requires parents to purchase a one-way ticket for the adult caretaker.

    The number of children who may travel unaccompanied on a given flight is limited, and approval must be received from Jat Airways for the entire trip.

    Parents or parental custodians who send their child unaccompanied are required to obtain all necessary documents, to respect Jat Airways conditions, and fill out a form entitled "Declaration for an Unaccompanied Child".

    For more detailed information, contact Jat Airways offices in Serbia and Montenegro, regional offices abroad, or certified agents.

  • Handicapped Persons

    Jat Airways makes a special effort to accommodate handicapped persons on its flights.

    Handicapped persons are those who declare themselves as such at the time of ticket purchase or ticket reservation, regardless of whether they make the declaration themselves or someone else does so in their name.

    In order to ensure the highest level of safety possible, it is necessary that Jat Airways be informed in a timely manner that a handicapped passenger will be traveling on a particular flight.

    Jat Airways must be informed if air travel can possibly lead to a deterioration or complication in the health of the passenger (passengers suffering from cardiovascular and pulmonary problems, passengers recently operated or those who require a reclining position, or passengers suffering from injuries such as broken bones, etc...).

  • Transport of Household Pets (PETC/AVIH)

    The transport of animals – household pets – is allowed on all regular Jat Airways flights so long as the airline has been given prior notice.

    The animal must be placed in an adequate animal carrier made from sufficiently strong material (plastic, fiberglass, wood, metal, etc...) with a non-porous bottom. The dimensions of the animal carrier must allow the animal to feel comfortable while being transported. It is the responsiblity of the animal's owner to obtain an appropriate animal carrier.

    The animals owner is also required to obtain the necessary animal health card and to be aquatinted with and abide by all regulations concerning the transport of animals from the country of origin to the country of travel, as well as all transit countries.

    Animals of small size and weight (puppies, kittens and birds) may be accepted for travel in the passenger cabin under the condition that the overall weight of the animal carrier and animal does not exceed 10 kg. The number of animals that may be transported in the passenger cabin is limited.

    Pets (dogs and cats) whose weight with their animal carrier exceeds 10 kg will be placed in the heated and pressurised baggage compartment under the plane.

Passenger baggage

  • Check-in baggage

    The transport of a passenger's personal effects is calculated into the passenger ticket price.

    Passenger baggage may contain only items for personal use and wear for the duration of the passenger's trip.

    A passenger is limited in the amount of baggage he/she may carry according to the given class of a purchased ticket.

    Tickets for higher classes of travel allow the passenger to transport more baggage.

    Jat Airways calculates the transport of baggage according to weight.

    Passengers are entitled to transport 40 kg of baggage in the Business Class and 30 kg of baggage in Economy Class. Children from the ages of 2 – 12 are entitled to the same amount of baggage as adults. Children under 2 (infants) are entitled to 10 kg of baggage.

    For destinations in the United States and Canada, where passenger transport occurs on different airline companies, baggage is transported according to the number of pieces of luggage.

    If it is ascertained during baggage check-in that a passenger exceeds the baggage limit, the passenger is required to pay for the excess baggage at the airport, for which the passenger will receive a receipt.

  • Items unacceptable as checked baggage

    Fragile and perishable articles, money, jewellery, precious metals, computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents, must not be carried in checked baggage.

    If despite been prohibited, any of above mentioned items are included in your checked baggage, Jat Airways shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to such items.

  • Carry-on baggage

    Carry-on baggage, baggage which a passenger carries onto the plane in the passenger cabin and for which he/she is responsible, is not calculated in the limit set for check-in baggage.

  • Special baggage

    The transport of special baggage includes: the transport of fragile and valuable objects, important documents, and similar items.

    Passengers are required to notify the airline of the presence of such objects when they make their reservation, and such items require the approval of Jat Airways before they can be accepted onto the flight.
